Umaid Garden

Umaid Garden is a pleasant garden situated at Jodhpur, the second largest city of Rajasthan. Spreads over an area of 82 acres, the garden provides the perfect environment for a picnic. It has green lawns, towering Ashoka trees and a variety of exotic plants laden with fruits and flowers.

Built by Maharaja Umaid Singh in the 20th century, the garden houses a library, museum (Sardar Government Museum) and a zoo. A Walk-in Aviary, where one can see different species of birds, was built in the year 1978. Large cages for bears, foxes, deers, lions and leopard are also seen in the garden.

The Sardar Government Museum exhibits stuffed animals, old weapons and sculptures. The collection of weapons and sculptures belong to the periods between the 6th and 10th centuries. The museum is open on all days, except Fridays, from 10:00 hrs to 16:30 hrs.

Umaid Garden is easily accessible from Jodhpur Airport and Jodhpur Junction Railway Station.
