Udyavara

Udyavara, an ancient Port town of Udupi District, is 5 km south of Udupi. It was the former capital of the Alupas. Many inscriptions are found here. The Udyavara River flows through here, forming small islets. The river is also safe for navigation.

Udyavara is famous for two walls. The inner one encloses a palace and the outer one consists of temples and business establishments. The important temples are the Shambu Kallu, the Veera Bhadra Durgaparameshwari, and the Vinayaka.
