Uddharanpur




Uddharanpur village is situated 1 mile north of Katwa in Bardhaman District. Radhakrishnapur was the former name of the village. Later it was changed to Uddharanpur to honour Uddharan Dutta, a Vaishnavite who lived about 500 years ago. Uddharanpur is famous for the Ghat Cemetery. The cemetery can be reached by crossing the Ganges. Gouranga temple built by Uddharan Dutta has a finely carved wooden statue of Lord Gouranga. In the month of Pausa (Dec-Jan) a fair is conducted.

Katwa railway station is about 6 km from Uddharanpur.
