Uchais




Uchais is one of the smallest tribal group of Tripura. Duapathar in Chittagong Hill tract of Bangladesh is considered as their native land.

They are very similar to other tribes of Tripura and are also of Mongloid origin. Jum cultivation is their main source of living. Vegetables, fish, meat of different domestic and wild animals, and homemade wine are their main food.

The rituals and customs followed are similar to that of the Tripuris. In the sphere of religion they are influenced by Buddhism and Hinduism. Rantak, Ker, worship of Ganga and Naksumatai are the major fairs and rituals.
