Tuophema




Tuophema is an ancient village located 41 km north of Kohima, the capital of Nagaland. It is promoted as a heritage village, complete with a wide variety of typical Naga cuisine which includes ghalo (pork with bamboo shoot), fish baked in bamboo and local rice beer.

The annual Angami Sekrenyi Festival, celebrated here during February 25 – 27, is a major draw. Best time to visit Tuophema is from October to April.

The nearest airport is at Dimapur, 74 km from Kohima, which is also the closest railway station. By road, Kohima is linked with Dimapur, Imphal, Guwahati and Shillong.
