One of the popular events of
Jammu and Kashmir, Tukpa Sheji festival is celebrated to commemorate the first sermon of
Buddha at Sarnath in northern India. This festival is conducted on the fourth day of the sixth Bodhi month. On this day people pay their respects to Buddha. Special prayers are held to mark this occasion.
