Tsuk-La-Khang Monastery

Situated in the Royal Palace premises near the Ridge Park in Gangtok, Tsuk-La-Khang Monastery is the principal place of worship and assembly for Buddhists. It has a vast collection of Buddhist scriptures. This two-storied building was used during royal functions such as weddings and coronations. Interior of this building is covered with murals and lavishly decorated altars holding images of Buddha, Bodhisattva and tantric deities.

The chapel is the site of many festivals and the most interesting of them being one dedicated to the god of Kanchenjunga. Phang Lhabsol and Losoong festivals are celebrated in the ground adjacent to the monastery. Chaams or the masked dance is performed during these festivals.
