Tondamannadu

Tondamannadu is a small village located about 8 km from Kalahasti, in Chittoor District. Inscriptions found in the temples of Tondamannadu reveal that the village was donated to the Tirumekkogil Temple by King Ghattideva Yadakkya. The village has two famous temples, Adityavara Temple and Virirundaperumal Temple. Adityavara Temple, with a brick gopuram or Rajagopuram / Shikhara, has a small Lord Shiva shrine and a small Devi Shrine in it. The temple faces east. Dedicated to Adityeswara, this temple draws a large number of devotees. It is believed that originally the temple was dedicated to Aditya, another name of Surya, the Sun God. Virirundaperumal Temple lies inside a mud fort and has a Garbh Griha and Mukhamandapa with a narrow porch. The nearest airport is at Tirupati.
