is known for its unique embroidery style. The Toda embroidery garments are in great demand with visitors from other parts of India and abroad.
This art-work, practiced exclusively by the women, is so fine that it is often mistaken as a weave at the first glance. Girls learn this art from their mothers at a very young age.
The embroidery is done using red and black threads on a white background, producing a rich effect. The motifs show a little bit of Macedonian influence. The traditional clothes worn by the Toda people exhibit this work.
Apart from clothes, Toda embroidery is used for adorning a range of products like pouches, spectacle cases, luncheon sets, table cloths and other similar accessories.
