Tiruthallinathar Temple




Tiruthallinathar Temple is located at Tiruputhur in Sivagangai District. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and the deity is Puthur Esar also called as Tiruthalinathar. This Shiva temple covers around 15 acres that includes four prakarams and a vimana. The Sthala Vriksham (sacred tree) is Kondrai and the Theertham is Garuda Teertham. Saint Appar and Sambandar have praised the lord through their pathigams. Several sculpted works including the metal images of Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman are found here. Jayantan Festival is celebrated in the Tamil month of Chittirai (mid April-mid May). Other festivals are Vinayaka Chaturthi, Navratri, Kartikai Deepam, Arudra Darisanam and Vaikasi Visakam. The nearest base for travelers is at Karaikudi, 20 km away.
