Tirumangalakkudi Prananatheswarar Temple




Prananatheswarar Temple is located at Tirumangalakkudi near Kumbakonam in Thanjavur District. The principal deity is Lord Shiva and Goddess Mangalambika. At the entrance of the temple is the five-tiered gopuram. The temple is spread over an area of about three acres. Inscriptions dating from the ancient period of the Pallavas, Raja Raja Chola and the Vijayanagar Emperors are found in the temple. The Sthala Vriksham (sacred tree) is Ilava Maram and the Teertham is Mangala Teertham. Sambandar and Appar have glorified this temple with their pathigams. The festivals held in the temple are Panguni Uthiram, Arudra Darisanam, Padinettaam Perukku, Vinayaka Chaturthi, Navratri, Aadi Pooram and Skanda Shashti.
