Tirttakkarai

Tirttakkarai is a coastal town in Ramanathapuram District of Tamil Nadu. It lies about 15 km south of Ramanathapuram and 8 km east of Kilakarai.

Rameshwaram, Erwadi (Muslim pilgrim center) and Uthirakosamangai lie close to this town. There is a famous Adi Jagannatha Temple at Tirupullani, which is 6 km away. Chitrangudi Bird Sanctuary, Gulf of Mannar Marine Biosphere Reserve, Kurusadai Islands and Kothandaramaswamy Temple at Dhanushkodi are nearby.

Ramanathapuram Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Madurai Airport, 104 km north-west, is the nearest airport.
