Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center




The Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center was established in 1959.The main aim of the center is to rehabilitate Tibetan refugees who were forced to escape from their country Tibet due to the regime of terror and oppression imposed by the Chinese Government.

The center organizes the displaced refugees across various parts of the country and provides some types of income. The Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center assists the refugees in the production of handicrafts. The center produces various types of Tibetan crafts like carpets, wood and leather work and ethnic Tibetan art, which exports to 36 countries all over the world. The center also gives aid to orphans, the infirm and the aged people. Education is also provided for the refugees. In order to meet the religious needs, the center built a Gompa (Community Chapel). The Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center also houses a Dental Clinic and a well equipped X-ray and Pathological Laboratory.
