Thuravoor Mahakshetram




Thuravoor Mahakshetram, an ancient Devasthanam, is located at Thuravoor in Cherthala, Alappuzha District in Kerala. The temple is distinctive in its architectural and artistic grandeur and one of the most venerated places of worship in Kerala.

Lord Narasimhamoorthy and Lord Mahasudarsanamoorthy are the main deities worshipped here. It is said that the idol of Narasimhamoorthy is from the holy city of Kashi. Lord Ganesh, lord Ayyappa, Bhagavathi and Brahmarakshassu are the other main deities worshipped.

An annual festival, the 9 day utsavam, is held during the month of Thulam (October).

The temple is situated by the side of NH 47, approximately 25 km south of Kochi city. Turavur Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Cochin International Airport is the nearest airport.
