Thulam

Thulam is the third month of the Malayalam calendar. It falls between mid-October and mid-November of the Gregorian calendar. Among the Tamil months, Aippasi comes in the place of Thulam.

One of the two famous Aarattu Festivals at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram falls in Thulam. In the Malabar region of Kerala, the 10th day of Thulam is celebrated as ‘Thulapath’ thus marking the beginning of the next six months of the Theyyam season. Deepavali also falls in this month.
