Thiruvarkatu Kavu Temple is situated at
Madayi, a small village in
Kannur District. It is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi and
Lord Shiva.
The 8 day festival of Pooram is the major event celebrated here. Final two days of the festival are marked by a fine display of seven different Theyyams. A form of folk dance, Poorakali is staged on all these days early in the morning.
Madayi is around 22 km from Kannur. Madayi Mosque, built by Malik Ibn Dinar, is a nearby attraction.
