Thiruvani Kavu Bhagavathi Temple




Thiruvani Kavu Bhagavathi Temple is located at Mullurkara in Thrissur District of Kerala. Mullurkara is about 25 km from Thrissur.

The presiding deity here is Goddess Bhagavathi. The temple also enshrines the idols of Lord Ayyappa and Vazhali Bhagavathi (the elder sister of Thiruvani Bhagavathi). There is a place for the worship of Nagas, in the north-eastern part.

The walls of the temple are decorated with ancient inscriptions that give information about the temple history. A sacred pond and the two trees at the entrance are notable among its peculiar features.

The temple celebrates Pooram Festival, Navratri, Laksharchana and Prathishata Dinam. During these festive occasions, various cultural programs including mohiniyattam, kathakali, vadyamelam and kuchipudi are staged. The famous Irinjalakuda Temple is a nearby excursion.
