Thiruppunavasal is located in the southeastern part of Pudukkottai District in Tamil Nadu. It lies near the district’s border with Ramanathapuram District and is around 80 km south of Pudukkottai.

Mimisal is around 10 km east of Thiruppunavasal. Tiruchirapalli Airport is the nearest airport. Arantangi Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
