Thirunaagai Temple




Thirunaagai temple is situated in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu, near Nagapattinam railway station. The main deity of the temple is Lord Neelamega (Vishnu). The idol is seen in a standing position facing the east. He holds a weapon known as ‘gadhayudham’ in his hand. The temple has a very big gopuram and contains 15 vimanas (shrines). The shrines are dedicated to the gods Govindaraja, Ranganatha, Pachivanna, Pavalavanna, Varadharaja, Ram, Srinivasa, Vaikundanatha, Aandal, Aanchaneya and Garudan. Inside the shrine dedicated to Lord Ranganatha, there is a bronze idol of Lord Narashima with eight hands.
