Thirukalikundrum Mountain is located south of Chennai. A temple belonging to Lord Shiva is situated on top of this mountain. The place is famous for the feeding ritual of eagles. Food is offered to two sacred eagles, believed to be the souls of two
Brahmins cursed by Lord Shiva to live as eagles. Out of the numerous eagles that fly around the region, only two fly down to eat the food offered. This ritual is claimed to be part of a 1000 year unbroken tradition.
