Thelliyoor Vrischika Vanibhom

Thelliyoor Vrischika Vanibhom, a centuries-old rustic fair, is celebrated at Thelliyoor in Pathanamthitta District. Thelliyoor village is situated around 16 km from Thiruvalla and 15 km from Chengannur.

This four-day long festival begins on the first day of the Malayalam month of Vrischikam (November-December). It is said that this fair is part of the tradition of the ancient Devi temple at Thelliyoor. In olden days, the fishermen brought shark fins as their offering to the deity. Even today, shark fins are a major attraction at the fair.

The fair is attended by people from different parts of the District as well as from neighboring districts. It contains all kinds of stalls, which sell a wide range of items right from agriculture produces to electronic goods.
