It is a week long event, at Thazhathangadi, which is made beautiful with water carnivals and various boat races. The main attraction is the snake boat race. Some of the other kinds of race boats that take part in the competition include churulans, oadis and irrutukuthies. It is Kerala’s most important celebration, which is pleasing to ones eyes when the race boats dart through the water in a rhythmic pattern.
