Thangasseri Fort




Thangasseri Fort is a 16th century fort located at Thangasseri in Kollam District. This 20 ft tall fort is a remnant of the Portuguese presence in Kerala.

Historical evidences reveal that the Portuguese started the construction of this fort in 1503 and it was completed in 1505. The fort, which is now under the control of the Archaeological Survey of India, was renovated recently.

Thangasseri Beach, Old Lighthouse and St Joseph Church are situated nearby.

By road, Thangasseri can be approached by a travel of 5 km from Kollam. The nearest railhead is Kollam Junction Railway Station.
