Thanedar




Thanedar, at a height of 7,250 ft, is famed as the fruit bowl of Himachal Pradesh. It is a small village located amidst magnificent apple orchards in Shimla District. Tani-Jubbar Lake, Hattu Peak, St Mary’s Church (built in 1872), and a stone temple named Parmjyotir built in the Pahari style are the prime specialties.

Thanedar’s delicious apples are used in preparing jam, pickles, and wines.

Accommodation facility is available in the Banjara Camp. A host of adventure activities can be enjoyed. The tourist offices run by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation facilitate tourist needs. Nearby are Lakhawati, Shoghi, Dianli, and Kasauli. Jubbarhatti airport is at a distance of 90 km. The nearest 133878rail terminus is at Chandigarh, 195 km away.
