Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharmasastha Temple

Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharmasastha Temple, owned by Uranma Devaswom Board, is the only one shrine in Tripunithura with Lord Ayyappa as main deity. It is about 12 km south-east of Kochi, the commercial and industrial capital of Kerala.

Devotees consider this temple as an extension of the famous Sastha Temple at Chamravattom, 12 km south of Tirur in Malappuram District.

Apart from Lord Sastha, the temple worship Lord Ganesh, Bhadrakali, Nagaraja and Brahmasrakshas. There is a huge banyan tree and a clean well maintained fresh water pond that spreads over more than one third of the total area of the temple precinct.

The annual festival, Makaravilakku, comes in the month of January every year. This six-day long festival bears a unique status. The celebrations start with the hoisting of holy flag (Kodiyettam). Melathrayam consisting of beautiful rhythmic percussion panchari melam, panchavadyam and paandi melam is the main attraction on the fifth day. Painguni Uthram, Vishu Vilakku, Dwaja Prathishta Dinam and Sasthaam Pattu are other festive occasions.
