Thakurdwara of Sunhani

Thakurdwara of Sunhani, built by the Chandel Kings, houses the temple dedicated to Nar Singh Devta.

Sunhani is a historic place situated on the Bhager- Barthin-Ghumarwin road in Bilaspur District and is 3 km from Barthin. It was made the capital of Kehloor during the reign of Raja Vikram Chand (1555-1593 AD) and had remained the seat of administration for more than 100 years.

The entrance to the thakurdwara is adorned with Gupta period architecture and drawing. One can see many jarokhas on its backside where images of gods and goddesses are carved.

Even today the temple is highly revered by the local populace. New harvest and buffalo milk’s ghee are given as offerings to the deity. It is customary for a newly married couple to do 'pradikshinas' around the ficus tree situated in the compound. Sheetla Mata temple is located nearby.
