Established in 1968 by a social activist Dr Thakur V Hari Prasad, Thakur Hari Prasad Institute is a center for mentally handicapped in
Hyderabad. It gives exceptional treatment for over 15,000 mentally retarded persons.
The institute has well-experienced and professional therapist, physiotherapist, and pediatrician to carry out treatments. Speech and language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Montessori Therapy are among the treatments. Mentally retarded children are given vocational training in candle making, book binding, commercial cooking, leaf plate making and horticulture. Regular schooling facilities are also available.
A placement cell operates here to assist and guide the residents. Besides, residential cottages are available. The institute has been honored with national and international awards for its outstanding services and professional excellence.
