Tyagaraja was a South Indian composer and saint born in 1767. He is famous for the Telugu songs he composed in praise of
Lord Ram. His life and works have always been a source of great inspiration for young poets and musicians. South Indian musicians gather annually at the composer's memorial, at
Tiruvaiyaru, about 13 km from
Thanjavur, to sing in his memory.
