Tamluk




Tamluk, the ancient kingdom of Bengal, is a historic town located on the banks of river Rupnarayan in Midnapore District. Main attractions are the Bargabhima temple and the Tamralipta Museum. The temple houses an ancient idol of the Hindu Goddess Tara. On Push Sankranti, middle of January, a fair is held here. Tamralipta Museum exhibits artifacts of copper, a tamralipta of Greek inscriptions, that features the historical heritage.
