Tamei




Tamei is one of the sub-divisions of Tamenglong District. It has an area of 1147 sq km. Tamei Town was formed by the amalgamation of two villages, namely Tamah and Langmei. The people inhabiting this region are mainly hill tribes. The town is beautiful with deep gorges, mysterious caves and splendid waterfalls, lofty green hills, meandering rivers, misty mountains and exotic orchids. This land is home to very rare species of wild life and rich vegetation. The climatic conditions and flora and fauna make its landscape unique. The Piuluang meadow located on the western side of the town and Tamei Bazar are the important places to see in this town. Tamei is 188 km from Imphal via Tamenglong and 115 km from Imphal via Kangpokpi. Regular buses are available from Imphal to Tamei.
