Talakkad, also spelt as Tallakad, lies in Malappuram District of Kerala. It is 3 km south-east of Tirur and 16 km north of Edappal.

Other nearby towns include Kottakkal to the north-east, Kuttipuram and Valanchery to the east and Ponnani to the south.
