Takhat-i-Akbari

The Throne of Akbar



Takhat-i-Akbari is a masonry platform where the coronation of Akbar had taken place, when he was aged 14. It is situated a kilometer east of Kalanaur in Gurdaspur District.

Surrounded by paddy fields and unknown to people, the site has a platform with a concrete throne along with a cistern at its center. It has been conserved by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

Akbari Masjid situated near by is also worth visiting.
