Taj Mahotsava is the state festival of
Uttar Pradesh. It is usually celebrated at Shilpgram, a crafts village and an open air emporium situated just a kilometer from the eastern gate of
Taj Mahal,
Agra.
The festival falls in the month of February and lasts for 10 days. A beautiful procession of decorated elephants and camels, drum beaters and folk artists marks the beginning of the festival. The festival is organized by the state government and displays the rich cultural heritage of arts, crafts, culture, cuisine, dance and music.
