Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve




Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve is situated in Chandrapur District, Maharashtra. Being the second tiger reserve in the state, it is well known for its clean and unique eco-system, and natural heritage. This reserve was created in 1995, spanning an area of about 625 sq km. The Tadoba National Park (formed in 1955), and Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary (created in 1986), together form the reserve.

This southern tropical dry deciduous type forest has floral species such as teak, ain, bija, dhauda, haldu, salai, semal, tendu and bamboo. Tiger, leopard, sloth bear, gaur, rusty spotted cat, Indian mouse deer, spotted deer, sambar, wild boar, four-horned antelope, wild dog and flying squirrel are also here. Education and awareness programs are often held here for children from nearby villages and towns.
