Tadasana improves posture, forms abdomen and buttocks, relieves sciatica, reduces flat feet, and strengthens thighs, knees and ankles. This asana can be practiced as a starting position for standing poses.

Tadasana's preparatory poses are Adho Mukha Svanasana and Uttanasana.

Tadasana is a Sanskrit term in which 'tada' means ‘mountain.’ Tadasana is also referred as 'mountain pose.'
