Surwaya is a historic place 20 km east of Shivpuri. The village is famous for an ancient fort built in purple sandstone.
Two Vishnu temples and a Shiva temple are ancient shrines located here. The biggest among the two Vishnu Temple is noted for its sculptures. A monastery and step-well are other interesting sites here.
Shivpuri Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Gwalior Airport is the nearest airport.
