Established in 1964, Surabhi markets the glorious arts and crafts created by over 30,000 artisans of 102 co-operative societies. It has 19 sales showrooms inside and outside Kerala. They offer varieties of handicrafts in rosewood, sandalwood, whitewood, banana fiber, koragrass, cane and bamboo, bell metal, brass, aluminum and clay. It also has an export and exhibition division at Ernakulam.
The society has a craft development center at Kaloor and a craft marketing complex at Kovalam for exhibition-cum-sale of various handicrafts. It undertakes welfare activities like construction of house-cum-work shed and offers financial assistance to artisans and their families. The society also conducts craft competitions.
