Sumoor




Sumoor, on the banks of the Nubra River, is one of the prominent villages in Leh District of Jammu and Kashmir. It is 120 km from Leh.

The major attraction is Samstemling Gompa, which is close to the meeting place of Shyok and Nubra rivers. Built in 1841, it is a big complex of seven temples and houses over hundreds of Gelug-pa monks. Sumoor is also noted for its scenic features comprising a variety of trees and flowering plants.
