State Museum




State Museum is located in a modern three-storeyed building at Banarasi Bagh in Lucknow. It is a multipurpose museum with sculptures, bronzes, paintings natural history and anthropological specimens, coins, textiles and decorative arts. The museum has a collection of about 83,000 specimens broadly classified into five major sections: archeological, numismatic, art, natural history and ethnography. It also holds an Egyptian Mummy. The museum is a centre of educational and cultural activities, organizing lectures, symposia, workshops, film shows and exhibitions highlighting Indian culture and archeology. It is open for visitors from 10:30 to 16:30 hrs everyday except on Mondays.
