St Thomas College, one of the most prestigious colleges of
Mahatma Gandhi University, was founded in 1951 at Arunapuram in
Pala. The college offers degree courses in English, history, politics, mathematics, physics, chemistry, botany and post graduate courses in
Hindi,
Malayalam, economics and statistics. Eleven post graduate departments of the college are approved research centers.
The university study center here contains 5600 books. A placement cell is also functioning in the college. Regular coaching is given for UGC, NET and SET Exams and various PSC and UPSC tests. Every year at least one international, national or state level seminar is held in each department.
Apart from studies, students are encouraged to take part in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Regular arts and talent festivals and competitions are organized.
