St George Forane Church, one of the oldest in
Kerala, is located at
Edappally, on the outskirts of
Ernakulam.
Built in 593, on a piece of land donated by the Elangalloor Swaroopam, the church is adorned with many ancient murals, depicting scenes from Bible. A well near the Church is said to have miraculous powers.
The feast of St George, from 23rd April to 15th May, is the main festival of this church. The parish runs many educational and charitable institutions.
