St George's Jacobite Syrian Church

St George's Jacobite Syrian Church at Arakkunnam, Ernakulam District, was built in the beginning of the 20th century. The foundation stone of the church was laid by Saint Gregorious of Parumala in 1902. As it was the last church founded by this saint, the main altar has been dedicated to him.

The church houses the holy girdle of St Mary and the holy relics of H H Ignatius III (Omalloor Bava), a patriarch. On Omalloor Bava's celebrations lunch is provided to the pilgrims.

There is a Sunday school, Bala Samajam (student association), Martha Mariam Vanitha Samajam (women's association) and youth association. The church runs the St George's Lower Primary School and St George's Upper Primary/High School.
