Srivaikuntam




Srivaikuntam is located in Tuticorin District. It is believed that Lord Brahma selected Srivaikuntam to perform penance to Lord Vishnu for securing the snatched Vedas from Somuka, an Asura. It is a famous place with a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, enshrined as Srivaikuntanatha. Pujas and abhishek (with milk) are done every day. The temple was also used as a fort during the period of Kattabomman.
