Sringeshwara Temple is located at
Rishyasringapuram, a holy village on the banks of the Nandini River, a tributary of the
Tungabhadra River in
Chikmagalur District. According to myth, it is the place where Sage
Rishyasringa attained
mukti. The temple houses the
swayambhu lingam, which attracts thousands of devotees. Lord
Shiva is worshipped here in the form of Sringeswara.
The famous pilgrimage center Sringeri, is about 10 km from here. The nearest airport is Mangalore Airport.
