This temple is a unique pilgrim center dedicated to Sastha. Traditional durbar is celebrated for two days on the full moon day of the Tamil month Aadi (mid July to mid August).

Banateertham falls is the sacred water point of the temple at about 7 km away. Papanasam Falls, Mundanthurai Wildlife Sanctuary and Kalakadu Wildlife Sanctuary are nearby attractions.

Bus services are available from Tirunelveli. Ambasamudram Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
