Sri Omkareshwar Mahadeo Temple



Sri Omkareshwar Mahadeo Temple, also known as Omkareshwar Mandhata, is located on the banks of the Narmada River, in Omkareshwar. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it enshrines a Shivling, which is one among the 12 Jyotirlings in the country. Dating back to the Kita Yuga, the shrine is built in north Indian style of architecture, from locally available soft stone. It is surrounded by beautiful verandahs with columns. The highlights are intricately carved stone roof and unique frieze figures. A shrine dedicated to Annapoorani is alongside the temple. Besides, there is an ashram named Mandhata within the temple.
