Sri Kothanda Ramaswami Temple




Sri Kothanda Ramaswami temple is situated at Chengalput in Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ramswami. This temple, known for its beauty and artistry, was built around the year 1041.

The idol of Ram is placed on a raised platform with his wife Sri Vaithehi beside him. His younger brother Sri Lakshman is shown standing by his side. Lord Ram’s other younger brothers Bharata and Shatrugna are shown sitting in front along with Lord Anjaneya.

Apart from the main shrine, there are other shrines dedicated to Sri Varadharaja Swami, Veera Anjaneya and Sri Perundevi. There is also a festival idol of Sri Varadharaja Swami, placed along with the idols of goddesses Sri Devi and Sri Booma Devi.
