Sri Karumari Amman Temple is located at
Thiruverkadu,
Chennai District. A legend associated with the temple tells that Devi Karumari took the form of an old nomadic lady and went to the Sun to forecast his future. But he neglected her without knowing who she was. Suddenly the goddess vanished and on seeing this Sun realized his mistake and pleaded her to forgive him. The main festivals are Thaipoosa Latcharchana and Poornima Latcharchana. Other festivals are Masi magam, Tamil New Year, Panguni Uthiram and Garudaseva.
