Sri Adhi Kesava Perumal Temple




Sri Adhi Kesava Perumal Temple is situated at Vada Madurai, which is about 25 km from for Tiruvallur on the Periapalayam route. Dedicated to Adhi Kesava Perumal and his consort Adhilakshmi Thayar, the temple was built by King Rajendra Cholan to commemorate his victory over the kingdom of Kosala. The persiding deity is in a standing posture flanked by Sridevi and Bhudevi.

The temple has no rajagopuram and the vimana is adorned with colourful images of the dasavathara (the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu). The main shrine also houses the idol of Lord Krishna. There is a separate shrine for Sri Adhilakshmi Thayar.

Sri Jayanthi, Karthigai Deepam and Vaikunta Ekadasi are the main festivals of the temple.

Tiruvallur Railway Station on the Chennai-Arakkonam railway line is the nearest railway station and the the nearest airport is Chennai International Airport. National Highway 205 passes through Tiruvallur.
