Soundarraja Perumal Temple

Soundarraja Perumal Temple is situated in Thadikombu village which is just 10 kilometer from Dindigul. The idol of the temple is in the sleeping posture.

Tradition tells us that once when sage Mandugar was doing penance near river Kudaganaru, a demon called Thalaasuran tried to spoil the sage’s effort. On seeing this Lord Azhagar from Thirumaliruncholai destroyed the demon. The sage prayed to the Lord to stay back and bless the devotees. The Lord complied and resides in the temple as Soundarraja Perumal. The temple is believed to have been built by Achutha Devarayar of the Vijayanagar Empire about 500 years ago.

Chithirai Tiruvizha is celebrated for five days in the month of Chithira.
